Jacksonville, IL - Lenz Field, LLC of Jacksonville, Illinois is expanding. Owner Tom Lenz (www.lenzfield.com) has purchased 16.5 acres of land directly north of the current Lenz Field, which is a state of the art all synthetic youth baseball and softball field that was completed in June of 2007. Owner Tom Lenz is currently in the process of finalizing bids and contractors to expand and begin construction on what will be known as Lenz Sports Complex. "Lenz Field has been a huge "hit" with competitive travel teams from all over Illinois and the Midwest. The timing was right to expand and add tournaments for boys ages 13-18." mentioned Lenz. Lenz is in the process of finalizing all the plans for the new complex that includes two high school sized fields and one youth field. The new fields at the state of the art "Lenz Sports Complex" will be a combination of natural grass, synthetic grass and natural dirt. Lenz is planning on making the infields on two of the fields all synthetic, and the main field all synthetic. The main field will be all synthetic, both infield and outfield. Lenz has visited both the University of Illinois field and the Ripkin Experience fields in Myrtle Beach, SC in the past month. "These facilities are state of the art, and I feel our new complex will rank right up there with these complexes. Our goal is simply to host the best tournaments for all ages, and to have the best tournament facility in the entire Midwest.” Lenz wants to get the new fields up and running by next May at the latest. “We will see how construction is progressing this fall, and then announce our 2009 Tournament schedule for the new complex around Christmas time.” Combined with the current Lenz Field, the entire complex plans on hosting tournaments on 20 different weekends each year. The 2009 baseball tournament schedule for the current Lenz Field, ages 6-12, is currently posted at www.lenzfield.com. Lenz's tournament concept should bring approximately 500 teams to Jacksonville each year. ”Hopefully our facilities will be the premier tournament location for competitive teams from all over the midwest,” concluded Lenz.
