2010 USSSA State Tournament Rules
Lenz Field & Sports Complex position and rules regarding metal cleats for boys ages 13-18u:
We have designed the two high school fields (fields #1 and #2) @ Lenz Sports Complex to allow players to wear metal cleats. This was discussed many times in designing the fields. We talked to many coaches and tournament directors at all levels from all over the midwest regarding this issue. In the end we decided to build these two fields to allow players to wear metal cleats. That being said it should be noted that when we visited the University of Illinois and The Ripkin Experience Fields we discovered the fields played better with rubber cleats. We were informed that all of the U of I players wear rubber cleats, even though they are allowed to wear metal. At Ripkin one coach told us he felt they lost a game because one of their outfielders cleats stuck in the turf and he did not get a good jump on the ball. Our final rule on this issues is that we allow metal cleats but encourage coaches and players to consider rubber cleats on our fields.
Tournament gate fees: Lenz Field does not charge a pre-paid gate fee, however most tournaments do charge admission to the fields. No carry in drinks, food, or coolers are allowed at Lenz Field & Sports Complex. No Pets allowed. Thank you in advance for supporting our concession stand. Tournament gate fees are as follows:
$5 per person for a 1 day pass.
$12 per person for a weekend pass.
Children 12 and under are free.
Age Requirement: May 1st will be the designated date to determine ages. Photocopies of birth certificates will be required and should be kept in managers possession the entire tournament in case of challenges.
-For example: To play with 13 year olds a player must not turn 14 before the May 1st deadline (same for every age group).
Tournament refund policy: If any portion of a Lenz Field tournament is cancelled due to weather the following is our refund policy:
0 games played: Full credit towards future Lenz Field Tournament minus a $50 admin fee
1 game started 50% credit towards future Lenz Field Tournament
2 games started NO REFUND.
* Tournament entry fees are non-refundable if teams withdraws from tournaments for any reason.
