These turf fields are very similar to the synthetic turf fields at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC; the University of Illinois Baseball Field in Champaign, IL; and the Tampa Bay Rays Tropicana Field. Lenz Field & Sports Complex simply eliminate rain outs! Two of the fields at Lenz are completely 100% turf, and the other two have infield turf and real grass outfields. 2009 & 2010 were record years in Illinois for rain. Lenz Field lost less than 10 tournament games in two years due to rain, and that’s because it was raining at game time. IF ITS NOT RAINING AT GAME TIME YOU ARE ALMOST ASSURED GETTING YOUR GAMES IN! Ask your self, “How many games and or tournaments did you get rained out in ’09 or 2010?” NOT AT LENZ FIELD & SPORTS COMPLEX! We have played in as little as 20 minutes after a 2 inch rain! Our fields are even better now that we are taking out the sodded foul territories and putting in turf. We have field #1 on the complex side completed already!!!!
